Candace Owens says Derek Chauvin verdict was not fair, Internet asks 'why she hates Black people so much'
'What we are really seeing is mob justice. This was a trial about whether the media was powerful enough to create a simulation, decide upon a narrative absent any facts,' she said
While many are celebrating the verdict of Derek Chauvin as a big win, Candace Owens decided to go down a different road. Appearing on Tucker Carlson's show on Fox News, Owens offered a strong condemnation of the verdict, saying, "no person can say this was a fair trial".
The conservative author and commentator slammed the Democrats "for controlling the media" and said that they were the ones responsible for the verdict. The over six-minute-long segment has Owens repeatedly attacking Democrats and the media, while Carlson eggs her on with his typical "just asking" questions. Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all three counts earlier on Tuesday, April 20, sparking reactions from all over the country. Politicians, sports teams and even businesses have put out messages in support of the verdict. However, Owens and Carlson clearly weren't too happy about it.

'We're seeing mob justice'
"What we are really seeing is mob justice. This was a trial about whether the media was powerful enough to create a simulation, decide upon a narrative absent any facts," Owens said. She then slammed the media for portraying Floyd as "a man who was just getting his life together". She also took a subtle dig at Rep Maxine Waters, who caused a storm for saying "we've got to stay on the street. We get more active, we've got to get more confrontational," in Minneapolis.
Carlson and Owens also referred to the Trump loyalists who were jailed for the January 6 insurrection at The Capitol. Owens said that those people were only in jail "because we have two pandemics in this country", one of ignorance and another of cowardice. In her long rant, she kept going back to slam the media, which conservatives have often accused of favoring Democrats. Owens summed up that the pressure caused by the media and the Democrats is what led to the verdict against Chauvin, rather than the arguments presented in court.

'Making racists feel justified'
The backlash was swift and furious. One person tweeted, "How does Candice Owens look herself in the mirror? I guess when you're a wealthy conservative asshole you have no need for compassion, empathy, kindness, etc." Another asked, "Why does Candice Owens hate Black people so much?"
"Proof Candice Owens sole contribution to society is making racists feel justified," another responded. One person retweeted the video and said, "This is where I remind everyone that Candice Owens makes a living telling white racists things they want to hear."
Another user tweeted, "If reincarnation exists, than Candice Owens is surely going to be a SLUG in her next life." One more said, "Candice Owens Fox News is not aware of reality! She’s crazy!!!!" One angry user tweeted, "candice owens literally makes my blood boil what the fuck is wrong with her."
Owens also received plenty of support from conservative users, some going as far as to endorse her for president in 2024. However, a vast majority seemed to be shocked, if not outraged at her comments.
